SOUNDWAVE WAS AMAZING!
MY EARS ARE RINGING FROM ALL THE AWESOMENESS!
Didn’t get off to the best of starts. We left late (I BLAME SOMEONE AND HIS LABS and as a result we missed Sevendust. (GUTTED!)
Which meant we had about 30 minutes to kill until Bullet For My Valentine. So we wondered around, listening to random bands and whatnot, before heading to stage two to prepare for the awesomeness.
Bullet were amazing. Most of the stuff they played was from their most recent album, but the crowd were into them throughout their whole set. Simply amazing.
We then rushed over to where All That Remains were playing and listened to the last ten minutes of their set. What I heard was pretty good. Not a fan of theirs though.
We then had a lunch break before heading back to stage two to see Primus. Definitely a “wacky” set, kept the mood up. As Primus played, we shuffled over to stage one in preparation for Slash.
Slash was fucking awesome! When he did the intro to “Sweet Child Of Mine” the crowd went absolutely ballistic. Another great set to add to the collection of that day’s great sets.
Mitch and I then split off from Amy and Chris to see Slayer (Amy wanted to see 30 Seconds To Mars, who were playing at the same time). Slayer was fucking brutal! The crowd was one giant moshpit! I missed half the songs because I was getting knocked around so much! What I did hear was awesome though. Also managed to lose my hat (well, someone took it off my head and threw it somewhere) and my water bottle (It was in the side pocket of Mitch’s bag, and with the crowd the way it was I didn’t really expect to see it again).
After Slayer and another little snack we headed back to the main stage and listened to Queens Of The Stone Age (didn’t go to see them, we were there for Iron Maiden). They were good though.
When Iron Maiden came onto the stage it was simply AMAZING. The crowd went absolutely nuts, and rightfully so! Two Hours of Maiden was a bloody awesome way to end the festival. (They teased leaving early after playing “Iron Maiden”, but they then came back on stage and ended things with “Number Of The Beast”, “Hallowed Be Thy Name” and “Running Free”).
All in all, bloody awesome and well worth the price of admission. BRING ON 2012’s SOUNDWAVE!!
